Experienced medical professional seeking a rewarding and challenging opportunity supporting Medical Disability Exams for Veterans. The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant supports Loyal Source Government Services (LSGS) by providing and overseeing comprehensive focus exam services for the Compensation and Pension program.
This position is a travel position where new hires will be assigned to a Loyal Source clinic for their initial 3-week training period and then will travel to rural areas or LSGS Clinics conducting Medical Disability Exams for Veterans, or a combination of both in clinic and rural location exams. Lodging will be provided as well as a weekly per diem stipend for meals and incidental expenses.
- Pay Rate: $45.44/hr
- Per Diem: $10.33/hr
- Health and Wellness Fringe: $4.23/hr
- All totaling rate of $60/hour

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as a key clinical resource and provider for the Compensation and Pension / Medical Disability Examination program.
Complete Disability Benefits Questionnaires and Medical Opinions (DBQs) and (MOs) within required timeframe utilizing IT platform.
Complete all DBQs and MOs meeting Quality Assurance standards.
Works in collaboration with various clinical service providers and other health and ancillary support staff.
- Anticipates and resolves potential issues to avoid downstream problems and optimize the Veteran experience.
- Ensures all processes are followed, i.e., the Abnormal findings protocols ensuring the Veteran is notified with instructions to follow-up with their primary care physician.
- Collaborates closely with teammates, other internal teams and external partners as needed.
Performs other duties as may be assigned.
EXPECTATIONS:
Examiner will need to have reliable transportation to travel within portions of California, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana.
Flexible and adaptable to go to various travel assignment locations on short notice.
The examiner will need to become familiar with computer and IT systems to complete DBQ s in a timely manner.
The examiner will be expected to meet performance metrics related to quality, quantity, and timeliness completion of examinations.
In certain instances, will be required to assist with triage and check in of Veterans depending on the specific location constraints.
Will possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems in a semi-autonomous and often remote environment.
Basic Qualifications:
Certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
Valid DEA license or the ability to obtain one prior to employment
1+ year of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner
Comfortable managing a primarily Medicare-aged patient population
Ability to travel to multiple locations and rural areas in the West Coast Region
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience conducting C&P exams.
Prior experience conducting musculoskeletal examinations.
Previous experience working independently.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Prior travel experience.
