**Duties**

** Summary**

The incumbent directs and manages the Adjudication operations of the Washington Passport Agency (CA/PPT/WN), in Washington, DC. and serves as a senior member of the management team. Under the overall supervision of the Director, directs the activities of two to four subordinate supervisors that are engaged in the acceptance and adjudication of passport applications.

**Responsibilities**

+ Directs and manages the Adjudication operation within a regional Passport Agency and serves as a senior member of the Agency management team

+ Ensures passport applications are adjudicated correctly and promptly, and that passport applicants receive courteous treatment

+ Monitors and adjusts the work flow or changes work schedules as needed to eliminate backlogs of work or to reduce waiting times of applicants

+ Advises and instructs supervisors and staff on the new laws and policy changes affecting adjudication of passport applications, and ensures compliance **Travel Required**

+ New supervisors must successfully complete a 1 year probationary period.

+ Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

+ This is a supervisory position.

**Time-In-Grade Requirements:** Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.

Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience may have been gained in work such as developing, examining, investigating, adjudicating, or authorizing claims arising under the immigration and/or nationality laws of the United States.

**In addition, applicant's experience must also demonstrate that the candidate possesses the following qualities:**

Qualified candidates are assigned a score between 70 and 100.
