**Work Hours/Shift:** Full Time Days including rotating days, nights and weekends
**You Will Be Responsible For:**
Facilitates the planning, development, and implementation of programs and services for areas of responsibility. Continuously
monitors and evaluates programs and services to recognize opportunities for improvement and collaboratively works with other
departments to plan and implement programs and services within the fitness areas that meet the needs of the Wellness Center and its
members. Assures that programs developed and implemented meet guidelines and Creation Life principles.
Oversees Fitness Areas which may include Group Fitness, Aquatics, Personal Training, Exercise Specialist/EIM , Corporate
Wellness and other assigned fitness areas as needed.
Ensures that compliance and safety of all fitness areas meets regulatory, industry and AdventHealth standards.
Oversees maintenance of the fitness equipment inventory list, and facilitation of preventive maintenance procedures and repairs.
Develops reports reflective of fitness equipment procurement recommendations.
Ensures that staff are trained properly, and that staff training is consistent with AdventHealth Standards.
Facilitates the development of policies and procedures to meet departmental and organizational goals, collaborating with other
Wellness Center teams as necessary. Ensures that policies and procedures with the Wellness Center fitness departments are
appropriately approved and communicated.
Prepares weekly and monthly reports regarding management of activities within areas of responsibility.
Performs the duties of Exercise Specialist, Instructor, or Personal Trainer as necessary. Stays current with trends in fitness, fitness
and wellness programming, and personal training through attendance at workshops, reading professional journals and networking with
other fitness leaders.
Counsels and provides guidance to associates within areas of responsibility, including all administrative functions, such as personnel
recruitment, departmental budget and business planning, mentoring and disciplinary actions as necessary.
Oversees Fitness department budgets, revenue and strategies for goal attainment
Communicates with Wellness Center staff regarding any pertinent fitness area promotions and retention programs in an effort to
collaboratively implement said programs throughout the Wellness Center.
Facilitates periodic meetings with direct reports to assure fulfillment of the Wellness Center and Departmental annual plans and
budgets, provide strategic direction as necessary and mentor staff.
Works collaboratively with Director, Marketing team, and Sr. Operations Manager to coordinate marketing plan and materials to
promote all Special Programs.
Participates in the Manager on Duty Program.
Required to work variable shifts, including rotating days, nights and weekends.
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
**What You Will Need:**
**Required:**
* Bachelors and 2+ years experience
* ACSM Certified Health Fitness Specialist
* Basic Life Support - CPR Cert
* Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
* National Academy of Sports Medicine
* National Strength and Conditioning Association
**Preferred:**
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology or Kinesiology, or related field such as Exercise Science
Two years hands-on experience working in a similar fitness center personal training program
One-year experience in developing clinical exercise programs
One-year hands-on experience in coordinating and delivering wellness programs
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Master's degree in Exercise Science or equivalent field
Prior leadership experience in similar business
**Job Summary:**
The Fitness and Wellness Manager is responsible and accountable for providing leadership to the following areas of the Wellness
Center: fitness services (to include medical clearance process, fitness assessments and equipment orientation) group exercise
programming and aquatic exercise programming, personal training, Exercise Is Medicine Program, and Corporate Wellness, to ensure
optimal quality and customer service. The Manager is also responsible for the development and execution of new fitness and clinical
programming designed to increase market share and create new opportunities to promote AdventHealth and Wellness. Works
collaboratively with other departments within The Wellness Center, hospital, corporate partners and community to plan and
implement programs and services within the fitness and wellness programming areas that meets the needs of The Wellness Center
members, community, corporate clients and hospital employees.
