This position is an Access Control support position that provides a role in carrying out assigned tasks in the department Access Control Shop (ACS ) throughout the campus residence halls, dining centers, and apartment communities. The primary duties of this position include; customer service & support, data management associated with access control software. This position will also be responsible for the repair, replacement, and new installation of components and equipment related to the online/offline card access systems, a variety of hard-key lock systems/door hardware, local/network-based alarm systems, and camera systems.

The Access Control Support Specialist make decisions to preserve the integrity and reliability of card access and hard-key platforms, serve to follow policy and code compliance, and serve to create a safe, comfortable, and secure CSU campus environment.

The position will primarily work between the hours of 7:00am and 3:30pm, Monday through Friday, with on-call responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

* One year of full-time experience installing and maintaining one or more of the following: electronic lock hardware, mechanical locks, access control and/or low voltage systems.

Substitutions

* Appropriate education for successful completion of a formalized apprenticeship program will substitute for the required experience

Essential Job Duties Job Duty Category Access Control - Electronics & Locksmithing Tasks Duty/Responsibility Install, program, and maintain a variety of Access Control devices, security and intrusion alarm systems including repair and replacement programs in existing facilities and new construction. Wiring and termination of wiring to electronic locks and controller boards and access panels. Replacement of power supplies and maintenance of battery backup systems. Duties includes repair and replacement of magnetic/electrical door locks, magnetic contacts, online and offline electronic locks and latches, electronic strikes, electronic readers, REX motion sensors, magnetic lock controls and alarms, and other related hardware.

Completes assignments under the direction of Access Control Shop Supervisor or the designated lead.

Performs data logging of activities and system records in a variety of computer programs such as Assetworks, spreadsheets, databases, and via email with Word documents.

Work assignments include tasks such as: cutting key blanks to code, stamping numbers/codes on keys, pinning a variety of lock cylinders to predetermined bitting, disassembly, lock changes, and reassembling lock components to repair/replace worn or damaged components, etc.

Performs troubleshooting of electronic online locks and systems utilizing computer software and volt-ohm multimeter, and ac/dc power supplies.

Troubleshooting of online electronic lock components through Alarm Monitoring software including but not limited to masking and unmasking online doors, reading and understanding alarms and error messages, etc.

Maintain current programming infrastructure including the OnGuard System Administrative and Alarm Monitoring software.

Interface with HDS staff and other Colorado State University campus partners to provide training and understanding of access control systems.

This position will use a variety of hand and power tools to establish wiring pathways, run conduit, terminate wire pulls in associated equipment.

Alignment and adjustment of door systems and hardware to ensure proper operation.

Duties also include downloading data to electronic lock systems.

Diagnose communication, networking, and system problems

Use instruments including Volt-Ohm-Milliamp meter, ac/dc power supplies, AXIS T8414 and handheld computers (PDAs)
