Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain sterilization documentation to include sterilizer logs, sterilizer and decontamination maintenance logs and daily sterile processing equipment testing logs in accordance with Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards and technical information reports (TIR).
  • Perform daily testing of installed Sterile Processing Department (SPD) decontamination and sterilization equipment in accordance with AAMI standards and TIRs and manufacturer s Instructions for Use (IFU) and complete documentation of testing.
  • Perform user-level preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of SPD decontamination equipment and sterilizers in accordance with manufacturer s IFUs.
  • Perform SPD daily point of use utility and critical water testing per AAMI standards and TIRs and document results in water testing logs.
  • Perform decontamination and high-level disinfection of endoscopes in accordance with manufacturer s IFU, Automatic Endoscopic Preprocessor (AER) IFUs, AAMI standards and TIRs and MTF policy.
  • Perform SPD start of day and end of day cleaning in accordance with MTF and Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) infection control standards.
  • Prioritize processing of medical devices and surgical instrumentation based on current and future OR schedules.
  • Inventory, identify and order required SPD supplies and consumable materials in coordination with the Ambulatory Procedure Unit s (APU) supply petty officer or supply officer.
  • Review and maintain accurate surgical instrumentation set lists in accordance with MTF procedures.
  • Perform at a minimum 80% of all surgical instrument processing and support for surgical cases each month.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Completion of a central sterile supply training course.
  • Current certification by the International Association of Healthcare Central Services Materials Management or current certification by the National Institute of Health Care Sterile Processing and Distribution Personnel.
  • Possess a minimum of one year experience within the past three years as a Central Sterile Supply Technician.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
