Do you have experience with setting up BGP on a Linux system? Do have experience with Linux iptables? Can you configure and manage firewalls on a Linux System? Robert Half is partnering with a Southern California based IT Cloud Consulting Company that is seeking a highly skilled Senior Linux Network Engineer. The position is direct hire, full remote, with full benefits on west coast hours with occasional travel to the Southern California based data center. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Linux Distros, network switches, VLAN configuration, Azure ExpressRoute, data center operations, and BGP networks. This role requires a deep understanding of Linux networking principles, data center experience AND Cloud experience, strong problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to managing and optimizing network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable and resilient networks to support company operations.
- Configure and manage VLANs to optimize network traffic flow and enhance security.
- Implement and manage BGP networks for efficient routing and traffic management.
- Manage Linux-based systems, including Debian and Ubuntu distributions for network to ensure optimal performance and security. Must have Debian or Ubuntu distribution experience for network engineering.
- Configure network interfaces on a Linux System.
- Set up Static IP address on a Linux Servers.
- Leverage Linux commands to diagnose network problems.
- Manage firewalls on a Linux System.
- Leverage Linux iptables to govern the handling of network traffic, to secure and manage network.
- Leverage Linux based network routing software for implementation of various routing protocols, including BGP, OSPF, RIP.
- Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software components, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Configure and manage Azure ExpressRoute connectivity to ensure reliable and secure communication between on-premises networks and Azure cloud resources.
- Create and maintain detailed network documentation and operational procedures.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in network engineering or a related field working with Linux in a Data Center environment.
- Proficiency in Linux Networking, including experience with Debian and Ubuntu distributions for Network Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of networking technologies, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Experience with VLAN configuration and management.
- Hands-on experience with Azure ExpressRoute configuration and management.
- Experience working in data center operations and best practices.
- Solid understanding of Linux BGP networking protocols and routing principles.
- Industry certifications in Linux, Azure, or Cisco.
- Experience with network automation and scripting using tools such as Python, PowerShell or Bash.
Other:
- Position is full time with full benefits generall working on West Coast Hours. Some afterhours and weekend work as this position with collaborate with European operations.
- Occasional travel to data center on West Coast.
