Position Title: Bus Aide

Reports to: Director of Transportation

FSLA: Exempt

Summary of the position: To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the school corporation's total educational programs.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Eighteen (18) years of age. Completion of school district training. Satisfactory criminal background check.

Supervises: None

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in maintaining order and discipline.
  • Assist in transportation of students safely on their route to and from school.
  • Assist in loading and unloading handicapped children.
  • Exhibit respect and active concern for all students in his or her charge.
  • Be a good example for students in speech and appearance.
  • Promote good public relations for the School Corporation and community.

Special Considerations: Riding in all weather conditions, seated in a school bus of various makes or models. May be exposed to inclement weather conditions and hazardous traffic and/or driving conditions. Exposure to noise levels ranging from moderate to very loud. High level of contact with students and interaction with District personnel.
