About the Company
Our client is a high-end, locally owned and operated steak/seafood restaurant. As an OpenTable Diners Choice award winner, our client takes pride in delivering high-end dining experiences. They offer USDA Prime beef from specialized suppliers, a wide variety of daily fresh seafood, an award-winning wine list, a full bar, and even personal wine lockers.
Our client currently has a beautiful and sophisticated indoor environment. It includes private dining areas that can accommodate parties of 10-300 guests. They will also soon be transitioning into even larger and more stunning facilities that feature a rooftop atmosphere.
Role Summary
The Assistant General Manager will work 45-50 hours per week to support all aspects of the restaurant: operation, administration, finances, and employee development. The AGM must be well-versed in the workings of high-end steakhouses and/or seafood restaurants and their foods, wines, customer service, and events.
This position has great potential for financial bonuses and professional growth. The AGM will be mentored by a top-notch General Manager. The right person could potentially reach a 6-figure salary in just a couple years.
Responsibilities
Operation
- Assist in managing shift responsibilities (decision making, staff support, scheduling, planning) while upholding standards of quality and cleanliness
- Manage kitchen staff
- Support frequent events such as private parties, wine dinners, etc.
- Assist the GM in reviewing employees work stations for quality, cleanliness, and completion of tasks
- Verify that employees completed duties and clocked out before they left
- Inform Owner or General Manager of all significant developments
- Take or suggest corrective action for problematic developments
Administration
- Schedule kitchen staff while accounting for seasonal changes in staffing needs
- Assist with ordering, approving invoices for, and receiving food products
Finances
Products
- Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs
- Minimize food waste and optimize food expenses: properly investigate local food purveyors, use correct products, etc.
- Continually monitor vendor pricing
- Ensure accuracy of inventory counts and costs on assigned day
- Monitor daily and monthly sales numbers; discuss projections and comparisons to previous year with General Manager
Labor
- Accurately project daily labor controls
- Monitor labor and attendance records daily
- Provide labor cost projection and staffing estimates to General Manager for approval prior to posting schedule

Employee Development
- Assist with employee orientation, job training, and ongoing development
- Develop back-of-house employees through training and meetings
- Enforce standards of employee dress, cleanliness, and hygiene
Qualifications
- 2 years of high-end steak or seafood restaurant operations management experience
- Solid knowledge of wine, Prime steaks, and seafood
- Experience with private events
