Via LA is seeking an exceptional, highly skilled and experienced Public Relations and Marketing Director who will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic PR and marketing initiatives to enhance the company s brand visibility, reputation, and market position. This role will help share our story and drive proactive news to build on the existing positive awareness for Via LA. This is a highly visible position, fit for a creative and strategic thinker who has experience with taking a proactive approach in developing communications strategy, message development, executive coaching, and has solid relationships with business and IP media. This role plays a critical part in shaping Via LA s public image and fostering positive relationships with stakeholders, including media, customers, employees, and the broader community. The Director of PR and Marketing should have outstanding written and verbal communication skills, a proven ability to consistently make sound judgements, engage and build trust with senior executives, and effectively collaborate with others while driving measurable results. This senior-level hybrid role reports to the President of Via LA, is based in Via LA s headquarters in San Francisco, California, and is required to be in the office at least three days per week.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop and execute comprehensive PR and marketing strategies to drive brand awareness and growth.
  • Identify opportunities for brand expansion and market penetration.
  • Develop proactive media relations strategy to secure coverage for the company, executives, and other initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, key decision makers and member organizations.
  • Create and distribute press releases, media kits, and other PR materials.
  • Develop and execute internal communications strategy and materials.
  • Drive an executive thought leadership program securing impactful by lines and speaking opportunities at key industry events.
  • Develop and execute core message platform for company and key executives.
  • Coach and develop company spokespeople.
  • Monitor media and key emerging developments globally to create plans and messaging.
  • Manage supporting agency/agencies on behalf of Via LA.
  • Oversee the creation of compelling and engaging content for various channels and ensure content aligns with brand voice, values, and messaging.
  • Lead digital marketing campaigns across various platforms, analyze campaign performance, and optimize strategies to maximize ROI.


Qualifications and Skills:


  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field.
  • At least 10+ years experience in a corporate communications or PR/communications agency developing and implementing corporate communications program.
  • Strong relationships with key business media is a must.
  • Forward thinking, strategic player able to act quickly and analytically and design actionable, measurable programs to align with and advance business objectives.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful communications and public relations strategies.
  • Team player with an exceptional attention to detail, stellar organizational skills who works collaboratively to manage and balance a variety of projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong understanding and expertise of external and internal communications strategies and tactics such as corporate profile building and thought leadership, message and platform development, quarterly and annual results, intellectual property, issues management, and proactive initiatives outreach to drive business results.
  • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Interest in the field of intellectual property is a plus.


The San Francisco/Bay Area base salary range for this full-time position is $225,000 - $275,000 and can vary if outside of this location. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training.
