Brandywine Community Schools is seeking an Elementary Counselor for our Grades K-2 building. The Counselor will assist and support students with their unique academic, social and emotional needs. This position works closely with the building Principal, building staff, and district behavior intervention team.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS CONSIDERED:

  • Michigan School Counselor License (SCL)
  • Michigan Teaching Certificate with the School Counselor (NT) endorsement
  • Preliminary School Counselor Credential (PSCC)
  • Eligibility for a Temporary School Counselor License (TSCL)

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Master's Degree in education and/or school counseling preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in education, counseling, social work, or other human services field required
  • Must serve as a positive role model for students and model professional and ethical standards
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication, computer and organizational skills
  • Maintain accurate documentation for student case management and reporting
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful and/or crisis situations
  • Experience working with the MTSS framework preferred
  • Understanding of the whole child philosophy

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide Tier I and Tier II social and emotional learning lessons and support for students, in alignment with district systems
  • Serve as a collaborative member of the Student Assistance Team to implement behavior and academic interventions when necessary
  • Attend professional conferences and workshops related to the overall guidance program
  • Provides culturally responsive individual and small group counseling to students with identified concerns and needs
  • Responds effectively to crises affecting students and faculty
  • Develops and maintain contacts with social service, law enforcement, private and public agencies
  • Responsible for caseload students, in particular at-risk
  • Ability to advocate for students with teaching colleagues
  • Monitor/adjust student Educational Development Plans (E.D.P), assist with state testing, and serve on building leadership committees to implement P.B.I.S

Salary Rate Range Minimum starting salary $43,500 BA and $46,000 MA. Salary commensurate with experience according to the BDEA salary schedule - full benefit package offered
