**Patient Registrar ** **Labor & Delivery** **Evenings - Rotating Weekends and Holidays**
The Patient Registrar is responsible for registering, scheduling and obtaining pre-certification and authorization for patients to ensure payment from a third party payer. You will greet and register patients in a tactful and courteous manner and obtain all pertinent patient demographic and insurance information and enter into appropriate computer system. You will pre-register patients in the hospitals on line system and obtains hospital medical record number when necessary. Youll perform insurance verification checks for Medicare, Medicaid and/or Blue Cross in the hospital billing system and perform other insurance verification functions as required.
In the emergency room, the Patient Registrars cover three points of entry, the walk-ins and two ambulance bays. In addition, there are five areas where patients are located, that registration needs to cover to follow up with patients after quick registrations.
This is a full time Evening position, 4:00 pm to 12:00 pm position, with rotating weekends and holidays. This position is located at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
**Preferred Criteria**
* Some college
* Knowledge of health insurance benefits/requirements
* Customer service experience
**Required Criteria**
* High School diploma or GED
* One year of clerical experience
* Effective communication skills
