Senior Accountant - Loan Accounting

CFC has a need for a Senior Accountant - Loan Accounting to join our Loan Accounting & Operations team. This is a hybrid position requiring onsite work at our headquarters office in Sterling, VA, as well as optional remote workdays. The Senior Accountant - Loan Accounting is responsible for the integrity of complex accounting by recording, reviewing, approving and consolidating transactions based on accounting rules and concepts (GAAP) and procedures for the Loan Accounting group.

As the Senior Accountant - Loan Accounting, you will:

* Be responsible for complex journal entries, advanced General Ledger account reconciliations and complex financial reporting schedules.

* Perform high-level routines and queries within the loan database.

* Be responsible for guarantee invoicing and reporting.

* Adhere to loan accounting SOX 404 controls.

* Resolve complex commitment and loan related data issues within the loan accounting system.

* Be responsible for responding to internal and external customer questions and requests including those of internal and external auditors.

To be successful, you will need:

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.

* Four years of accounting experience required.

* Previous loan accounting experience required.

* Previous financial institution experience preferred.

* Thorough understanding of financial and accounting principles, including GAAP, and the ability to apply them effectively.

* Proven skills in organization and multi-tasking skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.

* Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and draw accurate conclusions.

* High attention to detail and accuracy, with experience in maintaining accurate financial records.

* Advanced knowledge of general ledger and sub-ledger systems and databases.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to stakeholders.

* Proven ability to independently gather, consolidate and analyze accounting and treasury data.

* Ability to read and understand Financial Statements and accompanying footnotes.

* Strong team and collaboration skills, with experience in working effectively with others to achieve common goals.

* Proven ability to follow through on problems to a resolution, with experience in identifying and addressing issues in a timely manner.

* Advanced Excel skills including experience in creating complex spreadsheets and formulas.
