Job Details
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Possess a basic knowledge of ship building procedures and know how to find compartments of the ship by space number, and know port from starboard, and forward from aft.
* Furnish another worker with materials, tools, and supplies as needed.
* Firewatch while Hot Work is being done.
* Responsible for cleaning the work area, machines, and/or equipment upon completion of the job or work day.
* Follow instructions exactly as given.
* Work safely and know the safety rules and regulations as they apply to you.
* Able to withstand environmental factors such as:
o Outside weather conditions
o High, precarious places
o Exposed to fumes and airborne particles
o Very loud noise level
* Required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, feel, and reach with hands and arms on a regular basis.
* Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. and seek assistance with weights over 50 lbs.
* Occasionally perform other physical activities as required, such as:
o Stooping
o Bending
o Squatting
o Climbing (including but not limited to vertical and incline ladders, masts, and kingposts)
o Crawling (including but not limited to through scuttles, manhole covers, tanks, and voids)
* Perform all other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements:
* 1+ years of experience working in a Ship Yard.
Other Requirements:
* Must be able to pass Drug Screening, Work Ability Screening.
* Must be able to obtain a Government facility security pass.
