To learn OD operations and culture while learning safe and effective ways to load and unload freight and complete several projects throughout the internship, eventually "filling-in" for the operations supervisor during the last few weeks of the program

Primary Responsibilities

  • Learn dock operations by shadowing team members and various supervisors and managers at the location
  • Learn to effectively and safely operate a forklift
  • Assist in securing freight inside trailers, learning appropriate tools and supplies
  • Participate in monitoring the daily safety of each employee
  • Learn and participate in evaluating and teaching safe lifting techniques
  • Learn proper loading and unloading techniques and ensure compliance
  • Learn the service center operations and make suggestions for improvements
  • Learn DOT and OSHA regulations and ensure compliance
  • Learn to effectively use computer/internal freight monitoring systems
  • Develop an understanding of various forms such as shipping orders, city stripping manifests, freight bills, overage/damage movement reports and exception forms
  • Successfully complete projects as assigned


Job Qualifications

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, currently attending college


Experience:
  • Willingness to learn operations and complete assigned projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Great interpersonal skills with a positive attitude

Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday,Friday,

Working Shift:
AM / PM
