Infusion Care Manager

The RN/ Infusion Therapy Coordinator contributes to a multidisciplinary team with the focus on non-acute outpatient needs. The Infusion Therapy Coordinator demonstrates expertise in specialized IV therapy activities including but not limited to administration of intravenous medications, including immunotherapy, insertion and care of peripheral devices and use and care of central venous catheters. The Infusion Therapy Coordinator/ RN is responsible for overseeing the daily business activities of the department(s). The Infusion Therapy Coordinator/ RN will assume other duties, including clinical duties within scope of practice as delegated by the nurse manager.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Graduate of accredited RN program.
  • Current licensure and registration in NYS with Bachelors' degree preferred.

Experience:
  • Minimum of two years' experience in medical/surgical nursing with IV therapy experience.

Certification:
  • BLS required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Should be able to push/pull, lift/move 35 lb., be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing, and filing for extended periods of time, must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to be stationary at a workstation for a prolonged period time in addition to being able to squat or be mobile for a reasonable length of time and distance. Communication requirements include the ability to comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to communicate and read the English language.


RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
  • Working supervisor who will ensure efficient day to day operations by serving as primary point of contact.
  • Perform, and have a working knowledge of all activities pertaining to patient registration, appointment scheduling and confirmation, as well as medical record maintenance.
  • Direct oversight of patient schedules
  • Ensures that all staff are compliant with HIPAA guidelines and take corrective action with the support of management if necessary.
  • Ensures positive customer service and patient satisfaction, assist with trouble shooting patient concerns in a timely manner.
  • Assists with the onboarding and orientation of new employees.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, sound judgment and problem-solving techniques in the decision-making process.
  • Demonstrates ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationship with staff.
  • Develops and maintains effective communication between all levels of personnel.
  • Assists with telephone calls and patient interactions (including patient complaints) in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures related to mandatory education and annual health assessment.
  • Monitors that Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are current and inventory list is accurate.
  • Maintains monthly logs-AED, Eyewash Station, therapeutic phlebotomy.
  • Monitors compliance to all regulatory guidelines and ensures department is survey ready.
  • Assists Departmental Leadership team in HR related processes.
  • Oversight in conjunction with departmental leadership team in maintaining budgetary, financial, and productivity measures.
  • Attends departmental and organizational meetings and trainings as necessary.
  • Reviews for quality standards and required information and documentation for patient referrals. Educate referral sources as needed.
  • Assists in prior authorization process and denial management.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager.
  • Adheres to the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics and Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, as well as the New York State Nurse Practice Act
    • Maintains competency in clinical practice and participates in activities to expand knowledge and skills related to professional practice.
  • Provides a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff within the guidelines of Ellis Medicine
  • Other duties as assigned by nurse manager.
  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures related to:
    • Mandatory education
    • Annual Health assessment
    • Licensure verification
    • Chain of Command and Escalation policies

Salary Range: $31.50-$47.26/hour
