Purpose of Position
The Department of Aviation at the University of North Dakota seeks qualified applicants for a 9-month, non-tenure track, faculty position at the rank of Assistant, or a 12-month, non-tenure track position at the rank of Instructor, with a focus on Air Traffic Management. The anticipated start date for the position is August 16, 2024.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Teaching various aviation courses (4/4 course load for Assistant Professors or standard Department teaching load for Instructors) at the undergraduate level.

Teaching various air traffic courses, with an emphasis on terminal and en-route radar and non-radar courses.

Advising students on academic and career aspirations.

Serving on departmental, college and university committees, as assigned.

Supervising students conducting scholarly activities.

Required Competencies

Ability to teach and develop a broad array of aviation courses at the undergraduate level.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelors Degree, and minimum of 3 years of professional aviation/air traffic management experience to be considered for the rank of Instructor.

1 year of professional experience as a Certified Professional Controller (CPC).

Successful completion of a Standard Criminal History Background Check.

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identityand eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Masters Degree in Aviation or related field, and minimum of 3 years of professional aviation/air traffic management experience to be considered for the rank of Assistant Professor

PhD., Ed.D. or J.D. degree.

Evidence of established record of successful, collegiate-level classroom teaching in aviation.
