Shirley Contracting Company, LLC is looking for Pipelayers to join our utility crews.
Qualifications:
* Minimum of 1 year experience on a utility crew
* Working knowledge of shoring and excavation
* Ability to read cut/grade sheets
* Work in outdoor environments in all seasons
* Be comfortable working alongside heavy equipment and able to communicate with operators, workers and pedestrians
* Must pass pre-employment physical/drug screening
Responsibilities:
* Installation and repair of waterline, sanitary sewer and storm sewer
* Ability to align and position pipes to prepare them for joining.
* Ability to connect pipe pieces and seal joints
* Install and use instruments such as lasers, grade rods, and transit levels
* Ability to check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers
* Assist with the covering of pipes with earth or other materials.
* Cut pipes to required lengths
* Dig trenches to desired or required depths, by hand or using trenching tools
* Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools
* Work in confined and enclosed spaces
* Willing to train others in pipe-laying and provide supervision.
* Ensure the company's health and safety culture, policies and requirements are met
* Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with customers and co-workers
