Role and Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely completion of the required Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) Home Study Report.
  • Excellent Communication: Uses language effectively to gather information and facilitate an exchange of ideas through written and verbal communication. Possesses excellent writing and grammar skills including the ability to write concisely, clearly, and logically.
  • Flexibility: Adapts to changes while remaining focused on goals, applies knowledge to new circumstances
  • Analytical Thinking: Applies logic to solve problems and completes work within restricted deadlines
  • Assess for Trafficking concerns and be ready to refer qualified children to the Office on Trafficking in Persons (OTIP) Division of ORR.
  • Be available for on-call mental health crises.
  • Work with PRS Case Managers to make a recommendation for the appropriate interventions and treatment planning.
  • Supervision of team:
    • Provide weekly supervision meetings to PRS III Case Managers
    • Be available to provide guidance to subordinates in regards to cases, diagnosis, and safety planning.
    • Oversee PRS III Case Managers with regard to file management, appropriate documentation, communication, and regulatory compliance
    • Review ORR File documentation for completion, accuracy, and quality standards.
    • Timely completion of required reports:
    • Quarterly reporting:HHS Numbers by due date set by the VP of Residential Services or Designee
  • LMHP's are expected to provide board approved social work or counseling supervision.
  • LMHP's are expected to provide board approved social work or counseling supervision to those going for licensure for no remuneration. If a board-approved supervisor is needed one will be provided by YFT if the individual is on our staff and the respective board approves.
  • Attend all training mandated by YFT.
  • All duties and responsibilities will support meeting the structured program of care outlined in DBHDS and DSS state standards (DBHDS: 12VAC 35-46-800; DSS: 22 VAC 40-151-720) and under the guidance of the Federal Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR).
  • Other duties as assigned by the CEO, VP of Residential Services, or Assistant VP of ORR Services or designee.
REQUIRED TRAININGS: ALL MANDATORY TRAINING REQUIRED BY LICENSE AGENCIES AND YFT and external training to complete 40 hours of job specific related training.

Qualifications
  • Master's Degree and may have licensure (LMHP) to provide counseling services or on a licensure track with at least 2 years of postgraduate direct service experience; or Bachelor's degree with at least 6 years of clinical employment experience in behavioral sciences
  • Demonstrated ability to work with adolescents and families in a counseling setting and function within an evaluation team format.
  • Ability to assess treatment needs and deliver appropriate interventions.
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Fluent in English and Spanish verbal and written communication skills
  • Professionally facilitate supervisory functions as they apply to our milieu of care
Core Competencies
  • Knowledge of DSS and ORR policies and regulations.
  • Previous training or ability to complete required training in program specific assessments such as the CSSR-S and individual needs assessments for intensive in-home needs.
  • Knowledge of multicultural sensitivity and issues related to forced migration.
  • Foundational knowledge of Case Management Principles and Practice
  • Foundational knowledge of Child Welfare, Family Preservation, Child and Adolescent Development, and Trauma Informed Care Principles
  • Leadership: Establishes and guides a team effort that promotes a common goal. Ensures completion of team assignments, providing guidance and support through supervision of team members.
  • Decision Making: Makes decision and takes responsibility for them. Escalate through the chain of command, as needed, for guidance.

  • Evaluation Skills: Evaluates according to accepted methodologies.
