Summary: The Builder Sales Representative is responsible for growing and developing sales and margins of porcelain, natural stone, wall tile, countertop, hardscape and mosaic product lines by specifying materials to the Builder Channel located within an assigned geographic territory.

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to complete the following essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Develops relationships with builders and specifies our materials.
  • Presents MSI products, such as Natural Stone, Slab, Tile, Hardscape, Porcelain tile/pavers, Mosaics and Quartz.
  • Understands our products, our market competition and how to position our products.
  • Conducts sales calls on builders and or design centers located within the assigned territory.
  • Develops and maintains a close working relationship with builders key purchasing personnel.
  • Communicates our competitive advantages to installation companies and countertop fabrication companies; provides service to the target market in an effort to establish MSI as the vendor of choice for builders.
  • Responsible for internal and external communication with all builder channel customers and internal decision makers to ensure clear direction.
  • Responsible for market research and analysis for assigned region.
  • Manages displays, samples, and selling tools required by builder.
  • Utilize any and all marketing tools such as catalogs, brochures and vendor collateral, to broaden the reach in territory and promote our products.
  • Investigates and resolves customer claims/problems with deliveries, returns, credits, etc.
  • Attends trade shows throughout the year as required.
  • Travels 40% - 80% locally, occasionally nationally.
  • Performs additional duties as required and or requested.

Additionally the candidate must meet the following Education and/or Experience requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in business, sales & marketing preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible work related experience and any combination of education and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and communicate in a professional manner.
  • Must have the ability to work independently, set priorities and complete tasks by the required timeline.
  • Ability to view opportunities in a solutions oriented manner.
  • Must be an effective leader with the ability to think strategically.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Working knowledge of the countertop, hardscape and or/floor covering industrys products, pricing, processes, and related single family new home construction sales channels.
  • Experience working with builder channel purchasing teams.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel, Word and Power Point.
  • Must have experience in planning, budgeting and sales management analysis.

Salary Range: $65,000-$80,000. Estimated annual pay for new hires generally ranges between $90,000 and $110,000 or more, depending on experience, education level and annual bonuses.
