IACP seeks to hire a Project Manager to broadly support IACP efforts, and specifically support:

Police Chief is IACP's monthly magazine and serves as leading resource for police leaders and personnel on best practices, innovations in the field, leadership, cutting-edge projects, and other key information. A submission-based publication, the bulk of magazine content is written by police and criminal justice professionals. Primarily a print publication with digital reproduction of content, Police Chief is looking to expand and enhance its digital offerings while maintaining the high quality, accuracy, and professionalism our readers expect. The ideal candidate will be prepared to reinvent and build out Police Chief's digital presence and strategy from the ground up. This is a new position, and we are looking for a self-starter, with proven experience in digital strategy and offerings.

Job Responsibilities

Working with IACP staff, project partners, and stakeholders, the Digital Editor will:

Manage all digital aspects of the magazine to ensure scope of work and deadlines are met.Monitor SEO trends and report on them; work to optimize and develop an SEO strategy for the magazine.Copyedit written content with an eye toward digital publication.Review and coordinate written content for web publishing.Collaborate with staff and managing editor to expand online content and reader engagement through interactive or multimedia offerings.Maintain quality across web platforms and ensure brand adherence and visibility.Work with the communications and magazine teams to increase website traffic.Recognize social media trends and work with the communications team to increase the magazine's social media presence within the organizational accounts.Stay abreast of developments in digital publishing and content management.Develop and deliver in-person and/or online training and technical assistance.Maintain ongoing and effective communication with the project team, staff members, partners, and vendors.Other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's degree in subject-related field + four (4) years of job-related experience OR Master's degree in subject-related field + three (3) years of job-related experience required.Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and website platforms (WordPress).Adobe Creative Suite literacy (InDesign, Photoshop).Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.Experience with SEO, social media, and multimedia content.Experience editing and optimizing content for web publishing.Ability to troubleshoot problems from multiple perspectives.Strong penchant for collaboration and teamwork.Solid task prioritization, organization, and time management skills.Exceptional attention to detail.Critical thinking and decision-making skills.Demonstrated skill in managing projects.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a nonprofit organization, association, or criminal justice environment.Knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style and/or experience using house style guides.Experience working with a hybrid publication (print + digital).Proficiency in photo and video editing software.Understanding of marketing practices.

Special Conditions and Work Environment

Work takes place primarily in an office environmentLight lifting, bending, and reaching may be required.
