POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Nurse Aide (Floater)
DIVISION: Administrative Services DEPARTMENT: Health Services
DAYS SCHEDULED: 187 Days - Nurse Aide (20 hours per week)
SALARY SCHEDULE: Range C
REPORTS TO: Health Services Coordinator
I. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Nurse Aides assist the Registered Nurse in assigned buildings with health related duties and are responsible for those specific tasks delegated by the nurse. Duties are typically those of data entry, record keeping, assisting students with health needs, and preparing health related documents/reports. Aides may be assigned to attend field trips with students who have medical needs.Specific assignments may include one or more of the examples of duties and responsibilities listed below, as well as other duties assigned by the Health Services Coordinator..
II. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Assist the nurse with data entry for immunizations, physicals, medications, health conditions, screenings, and student office visits.
B. Assist the nurse with delegated nursing tasks such as temperature checks, routine and emergency medication administration, hearing/vision screening, urinary catheterization, g-tube feedings,
blood sugar checks, carbohydrate counts, and diapering/toileting needs.
C. Assist the nurse with preparing reports and parent communication related to immunizations, physicals, medications, health conditions, screenings, and student office visits.
D. Contact parents to obtain and/or convey student health information.
III. TRAINING, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A. High school diploma, or equivalent.
B. Must have general typing and office skills.
C. Must be able to operate photocopying machinery, computer keyboard, printer, calculator, telephone, and other standard office equipment, and perform alphabetizing and filing tasks.
