Climate and Soil Planner

This is a virtual position.

Duties:

Reviews, edits and refines the climate, carbon sequestration, and soil resources areas of the Manti-La Sal National Forest land management plan revision and the EIS specialist reports for those resource areas. Ensure all documents and files are in the correct formats, analysis is sound and rooted in best available science and compliant with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) direction.

  • Review, edit, refine Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) specialist reports for climate, carbon sequestration and soil resources associated with forest plan revision. 70%
  • Refine forest plan revision for climate, carbon sequestration and soil resources. 20%
  • Consult with the contractor, other USFS interdisciplinary team members, and other USFS employees on work related to the forest plan revision. 10%

Qualifications:

Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience OR BA/BS Degree in Agriculture, natural resources, agronomy or related field of study

  • Knowledge of NEPA policy and analysis processes and protcols.
  • Knowledge of climate change, carbon sequestration and associated scientific literature.
  • Knowledge of soil science scientific literature, and best management practices.
  • Skill in communication and interpersonal relations.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
  • Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint and Pinyon/Box.
