What does a Technical Assistant Do? The Technical Assistant is in the Large Business and International,(LB&I), Field Specialist, Engineering area with responsibility for assisting appraisers, engineers, financial analysts, and engineering team managers in designated portions of their assignments. This employee also maintains appraisal and engineering reference services, supports Engineering Team administrative and technical projects, and performs non-complex independent appraisal assignments.Duties:

* Assists engineers, appraisers, and financial analysts in the appraisal and examination process and provides assistance with the extraction, analysis, input, and review of data.

* Independently collects, summarizes, and presents technical data from the appraisal and examination process, and assists examiners in the compilation and analysis of data in preparation of reports and conclusions.

* Extracts, analyzes, filters, and schedules data from varies sources in support of examination and appraisal assignments, and assists in the preparation and review of spreadsheets, charts, and reports.

* Assists in the compilation of appraisal data or other tax accounting data in database or Excel Spreadsheet format, and provides assistance with the manipulation, analysis, and presentation of data in the final work product.

* Participates with, and assists, appraisers, engineers and financial analysts in meetings and conferences and assists with the preparation of charts, tables, and PowerPoint slides used for the explanation of factual data and conclusions.

* Participates and supports critical project work and efforts at the national Engineering Program level.

* Maintains adequate supplies for the group and performs group timekeeping duties.

* Provides assistance to examiners and management with Issue Management System (IMS) issues assignment as a team member on audits, establishing cases on the system, input of data, generation of reports, correction of errors, and case closure off the system.

* Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. (Birth certificate showing birth in the U.S; Unexpired U.S. Passport; Certificate of Citizenship or Naturalization; or Report of Birth Abroad of a U.S. Citizen (Form FS-240))

Qualifications

Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week, on your resume.

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-06: To be eligible for this position at this grade level, you must have one (1) year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes: Experience assisting Engineering Specialists, Appraisers, and Financial Analysts with research, data manipulation and analysis, report preparation, and program execution; Experience as a team member on an audit, establishing and closing cases out on an inventory management system; Experience in trouble-shooting and correcting errors on an inventory management system; Experience with administrative project management; Experience with administrative policies and procedures; Experience with spreadsheet programs and the ability to create and manipulate data within spreadsheets for use in the administrative process; Experience in database applications, PowerPoint, word processing; Experience in oral and written communication with both internal and external customers.
