**PURPOSE:** To assist in the operation of the fitness program.
**LOCATION:** **Fitness Division**, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, Naval Construction Battalion Center, Gulfport, Mississippi.
**AREA OF CONSIDERATION:** Open to the public. Vacancies may be filled by methods other than promotions when the best qualified person can be obtained from other sources.
**HOW TO APPLY:**
**MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Monday Friday Hours 0500 1900. Saturday, Sunday, & Holidays Hours 0700 1900.**
The incumbent will assist the Fitness Coordinator in demonstrating technique and use of exercise equipment. Assist in screening for cardiovascular risk factors, maintaining records, demonstrating use of equipment, advising patrons on properly monitoring heart rate while exercising etc. Will also assist with housekeeping chores, such as, wiping down the exercise equipment, dusting, towel washing, etc. Assists in coordinating facility use and ensure compliance with facility operating policies and procedures. May give input for ordering supplies and equipment to meet the needs of the operation. Perform functions relating to resale activities to include cash handling, supply and inventory control retail accountability, cost control etc.
POSTION REQUIRES A:
PERSONAL TRAINER (NCCA OR DECA) CERTIFICATION
OR
NCCA/DEAC GROUP FITNESS CERTIFICATION
APPLICANTS FOR THIS POSITION MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF THEIR NCCA OR DECA CERTIFICATION. Any application lacking the attached required proof will be considered ineligible for the position and will NOT be granted an interview.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid state Drivers License. Must possess a current certification from a NCCA/DEAC accredited health and fitness organization and possess knowledge of health promotion concepts. CPR / First Aid Certification preferred or must be obtained upon selection. Ability to handle emergency situations. Must have a practical knowledge of the methods involved in various types of fitness or sports activities. Must be able to instruct in proper use of exercise equipment. Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions. Must be able to deal effectively with others and have the ability to maintain records and reports. Skill to take blood pressure readings and ability to take body fat measurements. This position is subject to completion of a satisfactory background or National Agency Check (NAC) in accordance with CNIC policy.
