What We Need

We're looking for a dynamic and disciplined Sales Director that can provide leadership, direction, and support to Telesat' s US business primarily in the In-Flight Connectivity (IFC) market.

The US Sales Director, Aviation will develop and execute the Sales Strategy for Telesat's GEO fleet and Lightspeed LEO services in the US, with a special focus on commercial aviation, business aviation and government aviation channels. The position is based in Bethesda, MD and reports to the Regional Sales Vice President, US.

Role responsibilities:

* Evangelize Telesat Lightspeed in the market, create interest at decision making level (C-suite, technology/planning heads), influence long-term network strategy and connectivity requirements of prospects.

* Build sales and distribution channel partnerships in particular in the US aviation market for Telesat Lightspeed. Subsequently manage the channel partners.

* Manage and grow the company's GEO and Network Services businesses with a range of existing and new customers across the region.

* Achieve and exceed a set revenue and booking targets.

* Develop sales strategies and customer specific account plans, manage and negotiate customer contracts.

* Direct the activities of Customer Focused Teams (multi-functional teams) to address customer needs, develop customer specific offers, discuss and analyze customer and industry trends and opportunities, and resolve issues.

* Prepare comprehensive and timely proposals in response to customer inquiries and proactive discussions; participate with customers in identifying applications and strategic business solutions.

* Utilize IT systems to track and process customer contracts and opportunities.

* Provide reports to management on customer and industry activity.

Education and Experience required:

* Solid knowledge of US In-Flight Connectivity customers and trends a must.

* Minimum 5 years satellite sales experience. Experience building and managing channel partner relationships a plus.

* Ability to extensively travel to attend customer meetings and events across the region.

* Comfortable operating at a senior/board level.

* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business Administration.

* Technical knowledge of satellite communications and/or In-Flight Connectivity solutions a distinct advantage.

* Must be a self-starter, energetic, commercially astute and a strong team player.

* Track record of complete sales skills, from development of qualified funnel to negotiation and closing, having consistently exceeded objectives.
