Head of RNA Pharmacology and Translational Sciences - RNA

Our startup biotech client with incredible technology and deep pockets has tasked Scientific Search in finding them a We are seeking a Head of Pharmacology and Translational Sciences to build and lead a team focusing on design and selection of next generation siRNA clinical candidates. The candidate will develop and lead implementation of strategies and assays to profile siRNA using biochemical and in vivo assays across a range of therapeutic areas. The candidate will interface and collaborate internally with chemistry, project management, clinical development, and senior management to advance technology, clinical candidates, and corporate development.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with CSO to shape scientific vision and effectively translate into operational strategy.
- Recruit and develop a team focused on characterizing siRNA pharmacology, improving processes and organizational structure to enable successful implementation of program plans.
- Execute research strategy with discipline and focus to ensure success, clearly communicating goals and priorities, empowering team, and holding team accountable for behaviors and results.
- Provide leadership to team in solving scientific problems.
- Lead design and execution of biochemical and in vivo assays to drive real time decision making with rapid and high-quality data in support of our objectives.
- Interface closely with internal research, preclinical and development teams to drive RNA delivery and design innovation meeting corporate timeline objectives.
- Communicate with senior management and external parties to support business development objectives.
- Provide scientific leadership by coordinating activities with teams across diverse backgrounds and locations.
- Oversee and provide scientific direction to direct reports, ensuring scientific and career growth.
- Maintain scientific and technical expertise through familiarity with scientific literature, attending conferences, and developing relationships with thought leaders.
Requirements:
- PhD in pharmacology or related discipline and history of scientific excellence, experience in RNA therapeutics preferred.
- 10 years relevant industry experience with at least 5+ years leadership.
- Demonstrated success leading in a high growth, innovative, and rapidly changing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively inspire, lead, mentor, and manage senior leaders and project teams.
- Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to make effective presentations to a broad range of internal and external audiences.
- In depth experience with characterizing nucleic acid modalities including translational assays.
- Experience with developing strategic timelines and executing successful on corporate goals.
- Salary Range: $250 to low 300s base plus bonus, equity, and medical benefits. Salary will be dependent on level and experience.
