Want to work on the bleeding edge of Machine Translation technology? The Localization Platform team is looking for a Machine Translation (MT) Sr. Software Development manager!
The Localization Platform team develops and maintains the tools and systems that deliver localized content to Amazons customers in many languages around the globe. Our tools and services are used by all of Amazons businesses, including AWS, Kindle and of course, the Amazon websites.
We are looking for a sharp, hands-on Machine Translation Sr. Software Manager to lead a team of high performing software engineers architect and develop cutting edge solutions in the Machine Translation field. As a MT Sr. SDM, you will wear many hats; you are a coach and a talent development expert who can work with engineers to help them acheive their maximum potential; you are an architectural heavyweight you arent afraid to grab a marker and walk up to the whiteboard to share ideas; and you have strong judgment and can help drive programs through high levels of ambiguity to deliver the right results.

You will have leadership maturity and know how to handle a variety of tough people leadership situations. ou will develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives that will help Amazon teams unlock the full potential of machine translation. You will help develop architectures and technical solutions for complex problems, anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected.

Qualifications:
4+ years of Software leadership experience in a related industry.
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
Strong data analysis skills
Ability to operate independently in a highly ambiguous environment
Ability to define and implement automated business processes from scratch
Bachelors Degree or equivalent, ideally in Engineering, Computer Science, Computational Linguistics or related technical field
Strong interest in Statistical Machine Translation (SMT) and Natural Language processing (NLP).
Hands-on experience with machine translation systems
External vendors relationship management
Language requirements:
Excellent English-language communication skills, both written and verbal.
Level of experience (years):
Mid Career (2+ years of experience)
