New **Position Specifications:**

Under general supervision of the Purchasing Supervisor, performs duties related to the purchase of raw materials, processing purchase requisitions and sending copies of purchase orders to suppliers and to departments originating requests. Will determine if inventory quantities are sufficient, ordering more materials when necessary. Respond to customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations. Contact suppliers in order to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems. Tracking the status of requisitions, contracts, and orders. Calculating costs of orders and charging or forwarding invoices to appropriate accounts.

**Responsibilities**

* Follow the optimal material inventory and replenishment plans that support the business objectives for all assigned parts and products and production lines as assigned

* Follow production requirements and release replenishment signals to prescribed suppliers in support of both customer service and inventory objectives

* Provide inventory projections at levels required to manage the business

* Establish and expand visual execution and measurement systems that incorporate the latest in material management controls and techniques

* Implement and support the latest systems and processes as they evolve, keeping in pace with support of the overall business

* Coordinate priorities between internally and externally sourced material requirements.

* Manage business change through the appropriate process to minimize obsolescence and slow moving materials through timely new part and product introduction.

* Resolve Invoice discrepancies, Receiver and Quality related issues, working with pertinent Depts., such as Accounts Payable, Receiving and Quality Dept.

* Coordinate Transportation methods LTL, Hot Shots, follow up on Tracking Information, as needed

* Source Materials for Cost Savings and Sustainability of business needs

* Coordinate with Corporate Commodity Managers to effectively use their expertise and influence with Suppliers and Materials.

**Qualifications**

* Prefer an APICS CPIM or CSCP certification

* Preferred Associates degree from 2 year college

* 3-5 years related experience in inventory control and material inventory.

* Strong and proven ability to effectively communicate with various Dept. Personnel to improve results, using diplomacy and tact in a professional manner

* Proven ability to gain trust and confidence with Internal Customers and Suppliers.

* Proven ability to convey process improvement ideas with practical use

* Proven ability to persuade Suppliers and Service providers to improve results, i.e., Promise Dates, Quality and Communication on pertinent information needed.

* Proven ability to conceptualize supply chain to creatively find solutions to current market issues

* Proven strong communication skills required

* Proven ability to be proactive, using proper judgement to positively improve business results.

* Proficient knowledge and use of prescribed inventory management software

* Ability to work as a team leader and participant in projects that involve or impact the entire company.

* Customer service orientation and emphasis on results, by diplomacy, multitasking and priority setting.

* Ability to use personal computers, ten-key, copy machine, fax, telephone, presentation systems and printers

* Must possess strong computer proficiency in MS Office (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook) and Power Point, knowledge of Oracle and understanding of MRP systems preferred

* Must perform well under stress, strong and efficient in multitasking

* Bi-lingual a plus, Read, Write, Speak Spanish preferred, (Horton has a Manufacturing facility in Matamoros, MX that Buyer will be in direct communications with on a daily basis)
