Overview

LMI is seeking a Software Engineer to support a U.S. Federal Government Agency working with classified media. This position will work with a team of developers, architects, and data scientists to build new capabilities for our client, bringing innovative ideas to challenging and complex problems. The Software Engineerwill support a client office working on artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML). The Software Engineer will have a strong background in technology, strong experience with Python development, UI/UX design capability, an expert understanding of client security regulations, and hold a strategic view for how to present results to customers. This position will be responsible for presenting and explaining complex results to users. Responsibilities

  • Core Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python; familiarity with other languages like JavaScript is a plus.
  • API Integration and Data Handling: Ability to query RESTful APIs and make the results human-readable.
  • Development Environment Proficiency: Understanding of using Anaconda environments, capable of creating and managing them.
  • Software Packaging and Distribution: Experience in creating and maintaining Python packages, including uploading them to repositories.
  • Version Control and Collaboration: Strong understanding of git version control methods.
  • Code Abstraction and Software Design: Comfortable abstracting code into reusable components that accept user-defined inputs.
  • Highly experienced in taking software concepts and working with these concepts to design and implement a minimal viable product (MVP). Will have to have expert knowledge in Python as the client s work in this area is mostly in Python
  • Have strong UI/UX design experience
  • Required IC experience
  • Needs to have a strong understanding of IC software security requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields is preferred, but practical experience with a strong portfolio may also be considered.
  • Certifications in Python programming, software development practices, or any relevant technologies (e.g., any cloud certifications) can be beneficial.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development, such as participation in workshops, coding bootcamps, or online courses related to software engineering or data science.
  • 2+ years of experience using and managing software within the IC.
  • 2+ years of UI/UX design
  • 3+ years of experience using Python, developing and evaluating algorithms and methods.
  • Experience with data manipulation, analytic papers or report writing, and subject matter briefing(s), slides and graphic products.
  • Requires intelligence community (IC) experience
  • Active TS/SCI with polygraph required
