Responsible for maintaining day to day clerical operations, including answering departmental phones, interacting with patients, referral sources and other inter-organization departments, supports the RT/Manager and Respiratory Therapists. Supports Purchasing department by assisting with preparation of UPS supplies to be mailed.

**Key duties / Responsibilities / Accountabilities**

- Responsible for day to day operations of the Respiratory department, such as receiving phone calls from RTs and assisting them as needed.

- Responsible for answering departmental phone calls and assists in resolving patients concerns.

- Responsible for assisting in the scheduling of patients when required.

- Assists with review of initial orders and monitors for incorrect addresses and missing information to ensure the orders are completed correctly.

- May assist in sending overnight oximetries and downloads of information when required

- Assists customer service staff with patient or equipment issues, maintains good interdepartmental communications to achieve quality of care.

- Retrieves new respiratory work orders from customer service; performs direct Intake when necessary.

- Documents information as she/he schedules patients with appointments dates and monitors re-schedule bin on a daily basis.

- Assists Respiratory Therapists prior to their departure to make deliveries in any help they might need regarding documentation and equipment.

- Prepares supplies for UPS delivery to patients

- Handles incoming calls from Respiratory Therapists and other distribution centers.

- Assists Respiratory Therapists in correcting and/or updating prescriptions by fax sending changes to physicians offices.

- Assists the Respiratory Care Assistant in greeting patients that may walk in.

- Participates in departmental in-services, meetings, education, etc.

- Works towards improving organizational performance and quality of care to meet ACHC standards.
