Law Clerk I


Job Details

+ Amentum is seeking a Law Clerk. The candidate will enhance current staffing and supplement Automated Litigation Support services and support litigation efforts.


+ Support includes, but is not limited to, managing complex cases and working on appeals.


+ Performs complex legal research.


+ Prepares presentation for senior/lead attorneys.


+ Assists in preparing draft legal documents, such as complaints and motions, draft discovery requests and analyze the responses, briefs, memoranda of law, etc.


+ Assists in reviewing documents for relevance and privilege; and assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation.


+ Compiles, prepares, and summarizes relevant materials for use by attorneys in discovery and in preparation of motions, briefs, and other legal documents.


+ Summarizes depositions and other transcripts; maintains case files; performs simple legal research; indexes, tracks, and controls document discovery (including documents produced and received in discovery).


+ **Position will require two days on-site (at 950 Penn Ave. Washington, DC).**


Minimum Qualifications:


+ Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location.


+ Must possess Law degree, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study.


+ Possess sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.


+ Excellent written and oral communication skills.


+ Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.


+ Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.


+ Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
