21457 Happyland Dr, Richardsville, VA 22736, USA Req #18211 Thursday, December 16, 2021 The Salvation Army, Potomac Division an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, with locations in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington, DC has a job opening for a Guest and Food Services Manager at it Camp Happyland located in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The campground is approximately 130,000+ square foot of building space and 650+ acres of land.

Position Summary

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated customer and food service skills in a camp environment or the hospitality industry that is necessary to manage and oversee guest and food services management function of the Potomac Divisions Camp Happyland to ensure all functions are carried out smoothly and effectively . The incumbent will plan, schedule, coordinate, supervise the planning of events to ensure effective guest strategies are designed and implemented. He/she will maintain an up-to-date calendar to eliminate schedule conflicts; meet with nonprofit rental groups interested in using the facilities; conduct tours and explain rules and fees; ensures all staff are aware of bookings and event needs; serves as host to outside rental groups and liaison to the Divisional Headquarters Administrative staff during special functions and events. The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of food operations to include bulk food and supply purchasing and inventory, facility safety including standards for maintenance, upkeep of kitchen equipment, food production and handling, cooking, housekeeping, sanitation. He /she will oversee the kitchen staff to ensure the proper planning, preparation of nutritional meals and snacks in accordance with established federal, local and TSA guidelines and in accordance with established camp schedules. The incumbent supervises Guest Services Assistants, Housekeeping staff and Cooks.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission, philosophy, culture, protocol, and organizational structure. Knowledge of the principles and practices of personnel and business management. Knowledge of guest services best practices. Skilled in special event planning techniques and practices. Customer service skills. Ability to plan, develop and successfully coordinate scheduling of rental groups with the highest level of professional. Ability to apply discretion and independent judgment when addressing and resolving scheduling conflicts. Ability to build and maintain effective and professional working relationships with employees, Salvation Army Officers, and rental groups. Ability to coordinate with and keep informed of all departments of the camp. Ability to supervise prioritizes, motivate, monitor, and evaluate the work of employees. Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army. Ability to prepare and maintain reports in an accurate, complete, and timely manner. Ability to plan, coordinate, oversee and evaluate special events and assist with security during these events. Ability to work independently and with limited supervision. Ability to administer a departmental budget and monitor expenditures for compliance with the same.

Education and Experience

Associates Degree in Business Administration or related field, or completed certification in hospitality, and three years of progressively responsible experience in coordinating events, guest relations, or similar role or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications

Valid State Driver's License.

Physical Requirements

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read and comprehend legal terminology in order to determine compliance with terms of the rental contract. Ability to perform mathematical calculations and to analyze complex computations. Ability to formulate and lead group presentations. Ability to provide on-call coverage. Ability to lead potential users in tours of the Camp facilities. Ability to drive a golf cart. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing. Ability to travel to various locations to participate in public meetings, conferences, etc. Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and time constraints.

Working Conditions

Work may be performed in an office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like but not limited to the office environment.Work may require driving a vehicle and working outdoors with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
