Situated on Capitol Hill, America's largest and most varied union is on the lookout for a seasoned Executive Assistant to support the Director of Strategic Initiatives. In this capacity, you'll work alongside a dedicated team of trade union leaders and professionals, all committed to enhancing the lives of workers and their families. We're searching for an individual who excels in maintaining confidentiality and demonstrates tact and diplomacy, coupled with the capability to handle various tasks efficiently.

This pivotal role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of the Director's daily schedule and activities. The position is full-time, based in Washington, D.C., and requires in-office presence.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering and leading support for both internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the Director, maintaining professionalism and discretion.
  • Handling incoming communications, including calls, emails, and visitors, related to the Director's office; responding to contacts outside of standard business hours as needed.
  • Fostering collaborative relationships and coordination within the Strategic Initiatives team, especially with administrative personnel.
  • Providing guidance and feedback, promoting open communication, and dedicating time to the development and mentoring of administrative staff.
  • Working with other department leaders to ensure all administrative needs are met.
  • Efficiently organizing files, records, and calendars.
  • Arranging business travel, managing meeting logistics, and tracking expenses, while proactively addressing scheduling conflicts.
  • Preparing for the Director's needs by researching and gathering necessary information in advance.
  • Assisting with special projects, producing complex documents, and handling routine correspondence and inquiries.
  • Undertaking complex tasks that require analyzing multiple factors to decide the best course of action.
  • Completing additional projects and duties as assigned by the Director.
