This covers a wide variety of tasks including installation, configuration, testing, upgrading, and maintaining operating systems (Microsoft Windows, Linux), applications, software, and system management tools. The IT Systems Engineer is part of the team that manages and monitors all installed IT systems and IT infrastructure including Cisco network switches, routers, and firewalls, Cisco UCS and HP server hardware, Microsoft, and VMWare virtualization platforms. This role functions as the lead resource in troubleshooting issues and escalates unresolved issues to management in a timely manner, evaluates application system performance for potential bottlenecks, identifies possible solutions, and works with vendors to implement those fixes. The IT Systems Engineer is required to perform in depth root cause analysis of issues and analyze incident trend data to promote stable solutions in the environment while providing positive leadership and influence of team members and pushing to issue resolution with minimal management supervision or direction.

IT System Engineers also administer the primary and disaster recovery data centers and all server computing systems contained within. This position develops procedures, programs, and documentation for backup and restoration of server operating systems and applications and associated data using IBM Tivoli and regularly tests these procedures while maintaining high levels of security and redundancy on all IT systems. Also, the IT Systems Engineer creates comprehensive technology analysis documents, instruction sheets, system diagrams, process documentation, and serves as the technical expert for IT Systems on projects and facilitates technical meetings. It is required that this role proactively communicates with all levels of staff and management and deliver exceptional customer service while ensuring high availability and acceptable levels of performance of enterprise-critical computer resources.

Education

Associates degree from accredited program required; Bachelor's preferred

Experience

7 years required; 12 preferred

Certifications: Required

A professional certification, such as the Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) or equivalent, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)

Skills/Competencies: Required

Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Cisco Networking Technologies, Citrix Application Delivery, VOIP technologies, Virtualization and Hypervisors, and Data Center Operations.
