Psychiatric Urgent Care (PUC) Navigator (Baltimore/Washington Hospital - P/T Sat/Sun 10am-2pm)


Job Details

General Summary:

  • In collaboration with Psychiatric Urgent Care (PUC) clinical providers, coordinates linkages to care for urgent care patients.
  • Patients include children, adolescents, adults and older adults. Data collection and patient registration.
  • Coordinates with Admission, Day Hospital, Care Connect and other programs.
  • Communicates with patients/families and with clinical providers.
  • Functions as liaison between community referral sources and Psychiatric Urgent Care providers.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Work requires knowledge of psychiatric disorders and diagnosis as acquired through a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Psychiatric Rehabilitation or related field of study.
    • Forinternal candidates, high school diploma plus an additional 3 year of relevant internal experience may be considered as a substitute for a bachelor's degree.
  • Position requires computer skills and ability to learn new computer programs.
  • Work requires interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, families, referral sources and co-workers, sometimes under stressful circumstances (51-80% of work time). Urgent Care patients and their families may be stressed, anxious, irritable and/or distraught.
