SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Under direction of the Supervisor for Work Based Learning (WBL), the Specialist is responsible for working with the Department of College and Career Readiness and Districtwide Programs, MCPS schools and employers in Montgomery County to support the development, implementation and expansion of Work Based Learning programs. This grant funded Specialist position is for a one-year term and aligns directly with the goals of the Maryland Leads Grant to expand infrastructure and operations to provide robust opportunities for students to engage in WBL Internships and Apprenticeships with industry partners.

Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Considerable knowledge of MCPS courses of study and programs; knowledge of MCPS policies and regulations, with experience related to high school graduation requirements, courses and programs of study, transcripts, and student eligibility. Excellent human relations skills; strong written and oral communication skills. Considerable understanding of the college and career programs of study offered in MCPS. Has the ability to work and communicate effectively with outside partners, MCPS administrators, and school-based staff. Demonstrates excellent planning, organizational, and project management skills. Prioritizes and manages several tasks simultaneously.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:
Masters degree from an accredited college or university. Minimum three years successful experience as a teacher, counselor, or administrator. Leadership experience in career and technical education, other special programs, or counseling preferred. Experience with scheduling students, MCPS courses and course codes, and career and technical education or other special programs. Experience as a classroom teacher, counselor, resource or interdisciplinary resource teacher, administrator or other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience. Considerable classroom, school leadership, or counseling experiences working with a diverse student population and the business/corporate community, and planning & delivering professional development.
