Construction Estimator


Job Details

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

* Utilizing Timberline Estimating software, Estimators will produce construction/renovation spreadsheets for multiple divisions to create accurate estimates used for submission to First Finish clients.

* Confirm site-specific information such as existing conditions, measurements, photo documentation, logistical planning, and other project-specific details.

* Work closely with various vendors and suppliers to source products and materials.

* Review, analyze, and qualify incoming vendor and subcontractor bid submissions for monetary and scope accuracy.

* Create bid leveling spreadsheets for all vendors and subcontractors to ease in bid analysis and selection.

* Coordinate pre-bid site meetings with vendors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and other appropriate project-related professionals to obtain and provide accurate project details related to both pricing and scope specifics.

* Utilizing on-screen take-off, perform and confirm multiple measurements and quantity take-offs for project-specific needs.

* Use Microsoft Projects scheduling software. It is a required component of the estimating process.

* Traveling to and from project sites.

* Utilize Share files, Dropbox, and various FTP sites, receive and log a client-initiated request for proposals (RFP's) and other pertinent project information for potential bid/estimating opportunities.

* Utilize First Finish web-based GradeBeam software, communicate information to vendors, subcontractors, and material suppliers to obtain accurate pricing/estimates for input into First Finish client bid submission.

* Create transmittals for RFIs, product and material submittals, shop drawings and plan distribution.

* Communicate effectively with vendors and subcontractors to accurately assess project scope and/or supply capabilities within the parameters of the pricing submitted and actual project requirements.

* Work with internal team members such as project managers, coordinators, and superintendents to assist in information gathering for accurate bid submission.

* Manage multiple priorities simultaneously and manage time to meet tight project deadlines.

* Work independently and on a team with minimal supervision on assigned tasks.

Skills/Qualifications:

* Candidate must have thorough business knowledge of the construction industry as it relates to new build commercial and heavy-duty renovations.

* The position requires full knowledge of CSI divisional cost codes, best building practices, and construction methodology.

* Candidate must be highly skilled in reading, understanding, and accurately interpreting specifications and drawings.

* Knowledge in MEP divisions specifically as well as ground-up concrete construction.

* Conceptual budgeting and constructability analysis are equally vital to the position requirements.

* Experience leveraging technology and effectively communicating to stay uniformly connected to all project members.

* Self-motivated, strong work ethic and drive for success.

* Effective presentation, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

* Must be a strategic thinker and multi-task-oriented individual with strong problem resolution capabilities as well as the ability to prioritize often changing and conflicting issues.

* Minimum of 10 years' experience in commercial estimating.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Project, Word, Excel, Outlook) and other project related software.
