**Job Description:**

ARDEX Americas (), is the Global industry leader in the manufacturing and development of high-performance specialty building materials.

We are immediately hiring a **Purchasing and Inventory Specialist** to join our team. We are seeking a detail-oriented specialist responsible for researching, identifying, selecting, and negotiating items with suppliers. The Purchasing and Inventory Specialist will work with staff across departments forecasting the needs of the business to make purchasing decisions based on customer demand and trends.

This is a full-time position (Monday-Friday) located at our Bourbonnais, IL Manufacturing Facility. ARDEX standard office hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

**Responsibilities:**

* Establishes lead times, re-order points, and safety stock levels, for raw material and packaging items.

* Issues purchase orders for raw material and packaging components as needed, completing all required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.

* Works with the other plants and their support personnel on inter-plant transfers of raw material and packaging items, both inbound and outbound.

* Works closely with vendors regarding pricing, service, and quality issues.

* Works closely with Corporate Purchasing in contract negotiations, matters related to lower costs, as well as new products for testing and experimental batches.

* Purchases raw materials, packaging, maintenance parts, and sundry items from various locations as needed.

* Lead in negotiations and management of locally sourced items

* Become subject matter expert on designated spend categories as assigned by Corporate Purchasing Manager

**Experience and Skills:**

* Requires an in-depth knowledge of the manufacturing process as well as each area of functional discipline.

* Must be proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience in SAP preferred.

* Professional with a good work ethic. Integrity, dependability, accountability, adaptability, detail-oriented, responsiveness, and good attendance are essential.

* International procurement experience preferred

* Self-starter and ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment and in various temperatures.

**Physical Demands**

The ability to sit, stand, walk and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear for extended periods of time. The ability to frequently sit and reach with hands and arms. The ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds

**Education**

* Bachelors degree or related professional experience.
