**Responsibilities:**
* Purchase quality products and services at the best possible cost with the correct amounts and in the needed timeframe
* Process internal customers requirements for goods or services according to the established strategy
* Obtain bid proposals from qualified vendors and issue purchase orders to selected vendors
* Evaluate vendors based on established criteria including but not limited to: price, quality, service, support, availability, delivery, and reliability
* Prepare price proposals from a commercial perspective, financial reports, and other published data to determine competitive market prices
* Monitor and follow applicable laws and regulations
* Negotiate and administer purchase orders with awarded vendors
* Monitor shipments to ensure that goods or services are delivered on-time, trace shipments and expedite where necessary
* Assist in coordinating a corrective action plan to address defective or unacceptable goods or services
* Support the evaluation and monitoring of contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and determine needs for change
* Review supplier catalogs, industry periodicals, directories, trade journals, and websites to consult with user department personnel to locate necessary goods and services
* Review product specifications, to obtain a working technical knowledge of the goods or services to be purchased
**Requirements:**
* College Degree or a minimum of 3 years experience in a purchasing or related field
* Demonstrated work experience in assigned commodity group(s) preferred
* ERP experience
* Possess the ability to maintain relationships with vendors
* Ability to negotiate
* Strong communication skills - both written and verbal
* Working knowledge of MS Office
* Strong math skills
* Ability to multi-task
* Work well within a team environment
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
