Description

Implement Paducah Parks & Recreation Summer Camp Programs, under the supervision of the Summer Camp Coordinator and Recreation Specialist. Planning and implementing daily curriculum, games and activities, sports, arts and crafts, field trips, athletic tournaments, and special events.
Illustrative Duties

  • Work with coordinators/supervisors to plan and implement diversified day-to-day activities, schedule, and curriculum (Activities include: sports, games, arts and crafts, songs, drama, storytelling, field trips and tours, special events, etc.).
  • Organize materials needed for day-to-day activities and curriculum.
  • Maintain a good relationship with children and their parents.
  • Assist coordinator(s) with the parent drop off and pick up, monitoring, and providing a safe environment for all children in the program.
  • Assists with opening and closing duties.
  • Keep daily attendance for each participant, daily sign-in/out documentation, incident report forms, and disciplinary action forms.
  • Actively participate with children in designated daily activities including games and activities in extremely hot temperatures and swimming activities at the Noble Park Pool.
  • Assist with special events and other seasonal programs
  • Performs custodial duties, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Must be 15 years of age. Experience working with children between 4 and 12 years old preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge and/or experience in teaching children, and maintaining a consistent and safe environment that is conducive to enhancing learning. Must be prompt and reliable. Must be flexible, organized, and able to adapt when circumstances warrant. Must be willing and able to participate in planned children's activities. Must be willing to be guided and directed by other staff, camp coordinator(s), and supervisors.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to maintain a high level of physical activity, in outdoor summer temperatures for long periods of time. Must be able to be on your feet for long periods of time. Must be able to swim.
