To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- Ability to diagnose and repair gasoline/diesel engines and powertrains on light to heavy trucks, and light to heavy construction equipment
- Determines vehicles condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identify worn and damaged parts; Disassembling engines
- Correct vehicle/heavy equipment deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembly disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts or systems.
- Replacing vehicle/heavy equipment engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions and braking systems
- Checking vehicle/heavy equipment lighting systems
- Test drive vehicles/heavy equipment to gauge performance
- Maintain vehicle and heavy Equipment appearances by cleaning, washing and painting
- Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
- Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventative maintenance; calling for repairs
- Keeps supplies ready by inventory stock and verifying receipts
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading and understanding technical and regulation publications
- May weld and cut parts, using arc-welding and flame cutting equipment
- May be required to load or unload equipment, earth and materials onto trailer, dump truck, etc.
- Communicate well with Supervisor and team members
- Care and account for company tools, materials and equipment
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment, such as lubrication, fueling, cleaning, checking oil and water
- Perform work safely and in accordance with industry and company standards
- Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications:
- The successful candidate will have a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), Minimum of two years related experience and/or training in Diesel Mechanic repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a current CDL license.

While performing the duties of this position, the team member is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and arms, reach, and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities include accurate near and distant vision.
Employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions. Employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold and/or heat, risk of electrical shock, explosives and vibrations. Noise level on the job site is normally moderate to loud. Overtime and travel may be required.
