PAYROLL PROCESSOR

The Payroll Processor position serves internal and client operations by processing payroll spreadsheets in a timely and accurate manner. The Payroll Processor works directly with the Operations Team and HR Team to ensure accurate and timely payrolls including but not limited to considerations for leaves, garnishments, withholding, and payroll taxes. This position is also responsible for on-time, compliant, and accurate delivery of pay to employees in accordance with local, state, and federal law.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Offers guidance, seeks clarity, and makes decisions regarding assigned payrolls in compliance with local, state, and federal law.
  • Seeks out ongoing education and training opportunities as required to best support internal and external client outcomes.
  • Processes payrolls in an accurate and timely manner including needed deductions including (but not limited to) child support, garnishments, applicable payroll taxes.
  • Works with HR to inform and implement payroll solutions for accurate and compliant processing including (but not limited to) calculation of sick time, final pay and leaves.
  • Ensures direct deposit, live checks and ACH transactions are completed in a timely and accurate manner, with all appropriate fees and associated costs account for.
  • Proactively supports and seeks guidance from payroll team and others in understanding of payroll rules, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Escalates problems of a serious nature immediately and proactively to Operations Manager.
  • Inputs, maintains, and audits proper documentation in employee files and HRIS as applicable to local, state, federal and internal standards.
  • All other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least two years of payroll experience (or other transferable work experience).
  • Knowledge of state and federal payroll tax and regulations a plus.
  • Intermediate to advanced math skills required.
  • Associates degree (or above) in accounting, math, finance, business, or HR a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with external and internal personnel utilizing various communication channels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with a diverse team.

ABILITY TO:
  • Read, comprehend, and following oral and written instruction.
  • Learn the operation of standard office equipment and to develop speed and accuracy.
  • Operate in the Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Attend work as scheduled and/or required.
  • The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle, or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to 20 pounds.
