Program Coordinator, Global Health Institute - Georgetown University Medical Center

Georgetown's Global Health Institute (GHI) serves as a university-wide platform for supporting faculty, students, and staff who are contributing to global health through research, teaching, and service. To advance our mission and in line with growth plans, GHI seeks a Program Coordinator as a key administrative partner.

Job Overview

The Program Coordinator works closely with the Managing Director on delivery of all GHI activities.

With a particular responsibility for overseeing communications and events at GHI, they must combine an understanding of a range of global health topics and audiences with the ability to work independently to support conceptualization, planning, delivery, and evaluation of these deliverables. As well, they support education and research activities, with an emphasis on coordination and administrative support.

A key member of the GHI team, they contribute to strategic planning and assist with tracking a range of priority projects and activities, assist with scoping research and proposal writing; and are handle all GHI administrative support, including expense reports and procurement.

The Program Coordinator has the opportunity to work closely with the Managing Director, Director, Advisors, and a range of global health faculty and students across the University, as well as with external partners.

Their responsibilities are likely to grow over time and we hope they will develop their career at GHI as the Institute strengthens and grows.

Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

Reporting directly to GHI's Managing Director, the Program Coordinator directly supervises as many as four individuals - including three student workers.

They work cross-departmentally, representing the operations team in providing critical administrative and organizational assistance as needed. As well, they are responsible for communication related to GHI's cost centers (e.g., tracking expenditures by budgetary and project boundaries) and work with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure projected success.

This position has been designated as Hybrid. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University. Requirements and Qualifications

  • Master's degree in global health, public health, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in related operations or administrative roles
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace skills
  • Experience with managing social media and websites
  • Time management and job prioritization proficiencies
  • Strong orientation to detail and deadlines


Preferred qualification

Experience in budget management
