FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN: 2ND & WEEKEND SHIFT

We are currently offering a $2,000 sign-on bonus for Field Service Technician new hires. $1,000 is payable after 90-days of employment, and the remaining $1,000 is payable after 180 days of employment.

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Field Service Technician in Oakwood, Virginia for 2nd and weekend shift. The Field Service Technician position is responsible for diagnosing problems and performing standard mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and power-train repairs on heavy equipment at customer job sites/locations. These repairs may require working hours in addition to the normal work schedule for emergency calls or routine service as required. Flexibility and in-depth product knowledge/experience are necessary for this position. Seeking candidates with previous Caterpillar or related heavy equipment service experience, military diesel experience or completion of a diesel school program.High school diploma or GED required.

Requirements for the Field Service Technician position include:

  • Must have thorough knowledge of engines, transmissions, electrical and other related components to troubleshoot and analyze unique and high level problems/issues quickly, and improvise using logic and critical thinking skills to make needed repairs.
  • Must have excellent mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to work independently and part of a team.
  • Must be able to interact with customers on a professional level.
  • Must be a strong communicator with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be self-directed and well organized and with the ability to prioritize workload while providing excellent customer service.
  • Must have the ability to repair Caterpillar and competitive components and machines.
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn and apply new knowledge.
  • Must possess an excellent driving record and valid Commercial Driver s license, or the ability to obtain a CDL. Must be able to become DOT certified with DOT Medical Card.
  • Proficient use of technical software, databases and manuals.
  • Must be able to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Must be able to work any shift and overtime as needed to meet business and customer demands.

Physical requirements must be met for theField Service Technicianjob, including the ability to lift, carry and maneuver items up to 70 pounds, including bulky objects. This position requires repeated reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending and climbing beside, onto and under a variety of heavy equipment. Must be able to work outside in inclement weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, dampness and humidity.This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
