General Purpose and Scope of Position:

Agriculture is in a period of intense change. External pressures and innovations are creating a movement for growers toward data-driven decision-making, more sustainable growing practices, and advances in biological technologies and products. Ag Solutions is a newly formed business line bringing together Wilbur-Ellis's product groups, namely: Digital Solutions, Sustainable Solutions, and Branded Technology to deliver world-class products to the industry. With this renewed structure, the Ag Solutions team seeks a thought partner to design and implement a marketing & communications platform bridging all aspects of our disciplines.

The Ag Solutions Strategic Marketing Director will design, develop, and implement the marketing strategy within the Solution team that enables Wilbur-Ellis to realize its market objectives in this product space. They will also build and oversee the marketing team within the Ag Solutions business line to optimize our internal capabilities and customer/market intelligence used to drive marketing decisions.

Key Skills and Abilities Include:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related field of study. MBA with a marketing focus a plus
  • Deep understanding of product and brand relationships within and across the Ag Solutions team
  • Subject matter expert with experience and unique knowledge in developing strategic brand campaigns by utilizing market analysis and sales metrics
  • Ability to take broad sets of information and "connect the dots" to help the Ag Solutions team communicate our brand and products successfully to both internal and external customers
  • Ability to optimize marketing function to enable Ag Solutions in the development and execution of marketing materials to drive customer/market analytics
  • Ability to design processes that educate our internal sales force and workforce (GTM Strategies) to sell our highest margin products and leverage cross-selling
  • Familiarity with digital marketing such as social media, online advertising, SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
  • Working knowledge of successful and creative marketing communication techniques and strategies
  • Proficiency in creating and executing strategic programs including content marketing and thought leadership marketing tactics with a proven track record of delivering results
  • Experience in utilizing a network of external vendors to deliver marketing strategy (e.g., web designers, graphic designers, SEO/digital experts, contract copywriters, etc.)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with internal and external customers, peers, and leadership.
  • Great relationship builder with the proven ability to build, lead, and develop teams and influence without authority.


Technical Knowledge:

  • Graphic design and marketing-related software tools (e.g., Illustrator, InDesign, Canva, etc.)
  • CRM systems and customer analytics (e.g., Excel, Power BI, etc.)
  • Digital marketing platforms and analytics, including SEO, social media, online advertising, Google Analytics, etc.


Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:

  • Partner across the solutions team to design, lead, and execute the Ag Solutions Marketing & Communications Strategy at the top level
  • Provide detailed guidance and thought leadership on certain key brands' and/or products' marketing/launch strategies
  • Implement a process for internal sales & GTM activation- educate and inform our sales staff to enable more sales and leverage cross-selling
  • Communicate the Ag Solutions Marketing plan, brand awareness & product space across the enterprise
  • Create clarity around product interdependencies/synergies with the broader Wilbur-Ellis Portfolio
  • Manage resources to deliver against the plan, internal, contract, agency, etc.
  • Work with Portfolio Managers, the R&D team, and the Regulatory team to ensure proper content and technical language are always being used
  • Work with the Wilbur-Ellis Marketing Team & External parties to coordinate the overall company branding and ensure consistency of marketing materials and media
  • Create and manage the marketing budget that drives and supports the Ag Solutions marketing plan


Compensation and Benefits:

  • In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $137,500 to $192,000.Note that salary may vary based on location, skills, and experience.
