Position Summary:The College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences at Gannon University invites applications for a 12-month Director of the School of Education to begin in July 2024. The School of Education houses five undergraduate majors, two master's degree programs, and six graduate certificates, all approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). The successful candidate will be a dynamic and proactive leader of the school, responsible for supervision of faculty and staff, fiscal management, program assessment and curricular development aligned with PDE standards, oversight of field placements, student recruitment and retention initiatives, and development and maintenance of relationships with area schools. In addition, the director is expected to be actively engaged in the life of the university, and to work collaboratively with faculty across the colleges. The director teaches courses in their area of specialization, with administrative release time from teaching to support the obligations of the director role. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and education.The successful candidate will advise students and prepare them intellectually, professionally and personally, and if hired into the tenure track, will be expected to engage in scholarly activities in keeping with the Boyer Model of Scholarship as is appropriate to the application and receipt of tenure and promotion at Gannon. Requirements include an earned doctorate (preferred) or master's degree in Education (completed by time of appointment), administrative experience in K-12 and/or higher education, and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Expertise in workflow automation and knowledge of the Culturally Relevant and Sustaining Education Standards established by PDE are also desirable.
