Unit Notes ***MUST have 1 Year of Burn ICU experience in the last 3 years!!! *** Floating to PICU, Peds or adult ICU- Must have PALS -Basic EKG interpretation test assigned to them during orientation. Critical care RNs (ED/ICUs/PICU) will have more than just the basic interpretation test (like those included in the STEMI curriculum and Procedural Sedation curriculum assigned to them). - Unit: Burn Unit - # beds: 7-adult and peds (average daily census 4) - Certs: BLS, PALS, ACLSprefer advanced burn life support - Ratios: 1 to 2 (treated as an ICU) - EMR: Cerner - Charge Nurse: Yes - Nurse Aides: Nohave a burn tech (not on every shift); assist w/ hydrotherapy and dressing changes - Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend - Holidays: 2 out of 3 holidays - Scrub Color: Navy blue - Tele: Phillips in burn unit, must be able to read own - Vents: Yes - Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: The hospitalist and intensivist consult, but burn surgeons cover burns - IV Team: n/a - RT 24/7: Yes - Pharmacy 24/7: Yes - Call: If census dictates with a drop, will put on call - Shifts: 6a, 6p - Floor specific orientation: 2 shifts in burn unit, 1 shift PICU or ICU and 1 shift peds - Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Primary burns (ICU level to med surg level) for adults and children.
