Details Posted: 11-Feb-22 Location: Williamsburg, Virginia Type: Full-time Required Education: 4 Year Degree Salary: $55,000 Categories: ExecutiveSector: Intramural/Amateur/Recreational SportsPosition Summary: This position is responsible for implementing Visit Williamsburg's sales strategy for youth and amateur sporting events and competitions, as well as group tour and motorcoach. The Sports/Group Sales Manager will manage existing client relationships and aggressively identify, prospect, and network in order to create new business opportunities. Responsibilities: Represent Visit Williamsburg at select conventions, trade shows, sales missions, site inspections, familiarization tours, etc. Facilitate all aspects of the sales process including cold calls, follow-up calls, and emails; sales meetings and presentations; and pursuing bid opportunities and submitting proposals Develop and submit sales leads to Williamsburg hotels, attractions, and venues; manage requests for proposals (RFP) distribution within customer relationship management (CRM) software Assist in development of cooperative marketing programs Provide services in support of sales efforts, including managing logistics for potential meetings and events; act as liaison between suppliers and clients; maintain communication with all parties before, during, and after the event Join and participate in trade organizations and associations to establish market presence and outmaneuver competitive set Maintain excellent knowledge of hotels, special events, meeting facilities, and recreational venues, including capacities, space expansions, space limitations, renovations, and special concessions Sustain and strengthen partnerships with suppliers; communicate with hotels and attractions in order to meet Visit Williamsburg's sales goals; develop sales tutorials Work with Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC), regional municipalities, and economic development organizations to establish relationships and gain insights Prepare monthly sales reports for the Sales Director, including information on leads and active, booked, and lost business Maintain proficiency with CRM software, enter sales data, monitor and trace sales accounts, and enter prospects and key data points/information Prepare travel and expense budgets and expense reports Assist with promotional material creation and development Other duties as assigned Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Marketing, or related field Minimum of five years sales and marketing experience within a destination marketing organization, convention and visitors bureau, destination management company, incentive travel company, or hotel sales office Ability to execute against strategy to achieve and maximize sales goals/increase overnight visitation Proven success in client solicitation, retention, and relationship management Strong understanding of CRM software(s) Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Incomparable judgement in maintaining information, records, and reports; ability to read, understand, and review documents for accuracy and relevant information Ability to effectively interface with staff, the Williamsburg Tourism Council, and constituents Ability and willingness to travel up to 35% of the time and work occasional nights and weekends Positive, results-oriented, reliable, and proactive
