OVERVIEW:

The CAD Technician is responsible for the preparation of drawings and details for structural, architectural, and civil disciplines relating to repairs and modifications of existing properties.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Be familiar with specifications, sketches, drawing notes, and other design data in order to produce new drawings as well as make corrections and revisions to existing or preliminary drawings prepared by others.
  • Prepare, organize, and manage drawings and specifications using computer-aided drafting (CAD) and word processing applications (MS Word).
  • Develop and assemble drawing sets with plan views, elevation views, and details to assist the design team with the preparation of remediation design drawings.
  • Understand and assist with developing company standards for AutoCAD drafting including layer names, line and character styles, drawings and window names, and file names for sheet layout.
  • Occasional travel to field project locations to assist the design team with field sketches, taking dimensions, etc. and will require the ability to climb ladders, stairs and go inside damaged buildings to acquire the necessary field data to produce engineering drawings. The travel will be minimal.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, and CERTIFICATIONS:

  • High Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
  • 3+ years of AutoCAD design and drawing production experience.
  • Experience with PowerPoint, Excel, and Word for analyzing, organizing, visualizing, tracking, reporting, and communicating plans and project status.
  • Previous experience required in structural detailing with wood, concrete, masonry, and/or steel.
  • Revit experience preferred.


REQUIRED SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS, OVERTIME, and TRAVEL:

Physical Demands - Work is performed primarily in an office setting. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, bend, crouch, hear, and talk (must be able to speak and communicate clearly with employees). Employee may lift and/or move up to 25+ pounds. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary.

Overtime - There will be some occasions where overtime (or working after normal business hours) will be required to meet the demands of the position.

Travel - Required travel is minimal and infrequent.
