GCyber is actively seeking a dedicated Cable Technician I to join our team. This role is essential for supporting and maintaining the telecommunications and network infrastructure within a secure DoD environment for our high-visibility federal customer. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in cable installation and maintenance, along with a commitment to high-quality service and teamwork.

As a Cable Technician I, you will:

  • Install, maintain, and repair fiber optic and CAT6 cabling systems, ensuring robust connectivity and network performance.
  • Utilize a variety of network cabling test equipment, including network testers, copper cable testers, fiber OTDRs, and fiber power meters, to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Adhere to BICSI rules, regulations, and standards in all cabling activities, promoting industry best practices and ensuring compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Analyze, administer, and maintain the telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure, documenting configurations and maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with network engineers and IT support staff to support network enhancements, upgrades, and troubleshooting efforts, contributing to the overall health of the network infrastructure.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of system additions and enhancements, providing technical insights and recommendations to management and clients.
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks and respond to trouble calls, providing timely and effective solutions to maintain uninterrupted network services.
  • Ensure all cabling infrastructure is neatly organized, labeled, and compliant with industry and organizational standards for safety and efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
  • Active Secret Clearance required.
  • Bachelors Degree in a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, and work experience.
  • 5+ years of related telecommunications experience, with a specific focus on fiber optic and CAT6 cable installation and maintenance.
  • 5+ years of experience working as a Cable Technician within the DoD environment, showcasing a strong understanding of DoD network and system security requirements.
  • Related certifications in Fiber Optic Cable and CAT6 Cable Installation, underscoring a commitment to professional development and mastery of the field.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure in high-visibility environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, enabling effective interaction with personnel of various expertise levels.
